Delete your data or your account

You can delete anything you have put into Hive Yard — a single photograph, one inspection, a whole hive, or your entire account — at any time. You do not need to ask us for permission and you do not need to give a reason. Everything below is immediate except the email route, which exists for people who can no longer sign in.

Deleting individual records, without deleting your account

You do not have to close your account to get rid of something. In the app, and on this website, each record has a delete control on it:

A photograph — open it and choose delete.
An inspection — open it from the hive's inspection list and choose delete.
A hive — delete it from the hive card. This also removes that hive's inspections, follow-up flags and photographs.
An apiary — delete it from the apiary menu. Its hives move to another of your apiaries rather than being destroyed.
Follow-up flags and equipment records — delete individually from their own screens.

These are real deletions, not hidden entries: the record is removed from your phone and from our servers, and it disappears from the website too. Nothing is retained beyond the backup window described further down.

Open Hive Yard and go to User Account → Delete my account. You will be asked to confirm. This removes your records from our systems and from that phone.

If you can no longer sign in — you have lost the phone, or lost access to the email address you signed up with — write to privacy@thehiveyard.com from the address on the account, or tell us enough to identify it, and we will delete it for you. We aim to reply within a few days.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account removes all of it:

Your apiaries and hives, including queen details and hive configuration.
Every inspection you have logged, and its notes.
Follow-up flags and equipment records.
Your hive photographs.
Your sign-in itself, along with your display name and profile picture.
Any yard-sharing invites you created, and memberships giving others access to your yard.

This cannot be undone. There is no restore, and we keep no copy for you. If you want your records, write them down or photograph the screens before you delete.

What is kept briefly, and why

Backups may take up to 30 days to age out. They are not accessible to us as individual records and are not used for anything; they simply expire.
Crash reports are kept by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days. These are not linked to your account — they record what went wrong in the software, not who you are — so there is nothing in them to attach to you after deletion.

Nothing else is retained. We do not keep a shadow copy of your hive records, and we never sold or shared them in the first place — see the Privacy Policy.

If you share a yard with someone

Deleting your account removes the yard you own and every membership into it, so people you invited will lose access. It does not touch their own accounts or their own hives. Equally, if you joined someone else's yard, deleting your account removes your access to it and changes nothing of theirs.

Just want to stop syncing?

You do not have to delete anything. Hive Yard works fully offline: sign out, or turn on offline mode in Settings, and your records stay on your phone and stop being copied to us.
